Finally decided on a 338 Norma. Now trying to figure out what twist would be best to go with.Seen them with 1-8.5,1-9.3,1-9.5,1-10 What twist would be the best.I am going to use the rem-Varmint barrel contour 26"OR 28" not sure what one yet.Want to shoot 210 up to 300 pills.

I had a 9.3 on my Edge that I used with the 300 SMK's. I've seen plenty of claims that the 10 will work as well but, it may not keep the bullet quite as stable at the longer ranges (1800 +) when the bullet goes transonic.

I think it depends on how far you actually intend on shooting the rifle.

Re: Need help on twist 338 Norma

The Sg,gryoscopic stability, increases as a bullet slows down. The reason is the velocity decays at a faster rate than the spin rate.
1-10 is more than enough. The transonic region for the most part is much to do about very little. Using any bullet designed for LR and with a adequante BC there are no problems.
