Need help understand scope rings/mounts

I just got a Leupold Mark 5 Optic. I’m confused on the rings size I need. The objective lens is 56 mm but the tube diameter is 30 mm. I thought I needed 30 mm but I’ve been seeing post where people say they are using 35 mm. Can someone please clear this up for me?

Leupold Mark 5HD has a 35mm tube, therefore you need a 35mm mount like a SPUR or 35mm rings. Sounds like you're mistaken about the tube size.
