So guys...I have a Defiance Deviant Long Action on order and will be here in 5 months. I am also considering ordering a mag bolt so in the event later on, I want to build out a LA mag rifle, I have the bolt.

Now, I know when you're trying to build a purpose rifle, you build the rifle for that specific purpose. But, I want to to try to build out a tactical rifle that is capable of competing in F-Open. I have a 6.5 creedmoor, but I want something that bucks the wind more, and can maybe reach out to that 1 mile mark if i want to do long range precision shooting given very favorable conditions.

I want to build it on an AICS stock (300win mag 2.0 version) so if I want to ever mag feed, I can do so. This gives me options later on to build out another caliber like a 300 win mag or variants of a LA 7mm or 30 cal. I also have the SA version, and I simply LOVE the AICS stock so I am absolutely set on this stock.

My initial build will be a 7mm caliber. So, I am deciding on a 7SAUM, straight 284 or 284 shehane that will be on a 30" bartlein twist barrel.
So, here are my questions...

1) Is it worth it to sacrifice performance (7SAUM) over barrel life (284/284shehane)? I do shoot a lot and 7SAUM can get very expensive, but if the performance is worth the squeeze, i'll invest in it. I am not recoil sensitive either.

2) otherwise, if 7SAUM is not worth it, which of the two makes more sense for me, straight 284 or 284 shehane?

3) Will an AICS stock with my setup (tactical/F-class rig with a 30" barrel)?
