haven't used the 180 vld, but I do shoot 180 sierra spitzers and nosler bt.

I usually just run varget with them. Accuracy has been plenty good enough, so I haven't tried anything else. 42.6 grains works well for me. Not a fast load at all, but accurate and great on deer here.

As long as this is a winter load and not to be shot over 60* work up from 42 grains of VV550. Below 50* you can get up to 47.2+/- grns depending on your rifle. Above 60* I wouldn't shoot above 46.4 grns. Its that temperature sensitive! It should be good for your Bergers. I shoot a different brand of 185s. BR2 or Wolf primers work with Winchester brass.

I agree with the Varget. Somewhere around the 46gr area. Play with it and see what your gun likes. Varget is a nice low pressure powder and burns really even.

I am not trying start anything but are you ri really getting 46 grains of Varget under a 185 grain bullet? I can see a 175 but am scratching my head at that.

Re-15 seems to work real well in many bullet weights. The AMU uses it for the m118 load for competition.

I tried both varget and R15 when I used that combo. Ended up with R15 as it gave better velocity with equal accuracy.

IMR XBR8208 or H4895. Both are not temp. sensitive and are a fine cut powder that measure really well. Very accurate too.

I use 178gr Hornady's both the A Max and HPBT. I run 40.9 Gr of H4895 and 41.5 gr of XBR 8208.
