Gunsmithing Need info on action jig for lathe

I want to build a jig to be able to turn/true Remington 700 type actions.

What are the general sizes recommended for the jig? Is 3" diameter large enough? How long do you need to cover most actions (including long actions)? What wall thickness would provide the support for the set screws?
