Need opinions on changing out rail on older Armalite AR10T

I have an original older Armalite AR10 T with the green furniture that has the round forend rail. The only thing that has been done to it is have the 24 inch barrel cut down to 20 inches and was threaded with thread protector. I am thinking of changing the rail out to a more current model rail and then having it all cerekoted some sort of black again. It is my first AR10 and it is a older Armalite. I am looking for info on what is available from what vendors that I could buy to replace the older forend. I am not sure if the older upper receivers are picky on what I can buy and use? Any help on what I will be able to use will be a big help.

As I understand your post, you are looking for a handguard?

There are basically two types of upper receivers. They are DPMS and Armalite.

The DPMS uppers are (were?) available in different rail heights, but you shouldn't have that problem.

To my knowledge, Armalite only has one height of rail on their uppers. For this reason, I believe as long as you order an Armalite style handguard, you should be in good shape.

Yes, the handguard is what I want to replace. I am getting ready to order some stuff from seekins and if they have something that will work I would get it from them. Just wanted to know if other vendors handguards would match up with the receiver pic rail and work for the receiver. The only thing that would maybe need to be changed out doing this is the gas block but do not know until I get a new rail.

Are you looking for a picatinny rail or the new MLok hotness?

Armalite sells both flavors.

And I forget the company’s name but they made the picatinny forends for early Noveske rifles and also produced rails for Armalite and DPMS pattern rifles.

I am looking for the MLok handguard to work with it. Just checked out Seekins site and it is a no go for getting a handguard there. I did look at the Armalite site and it may be my best bet to get what they have to change out what I have. I am going to order the new AR15 pattern set from Aero Precision they are offering for January this week to try out and will ask them if 1 of their handguards for the 308 platform will work on mine.

UTG Pro makes an Armalite AR10 compatible M Lok handguard. It's made in the USA. Unfortunately there are less options for AR10 handguards as DPMS. Armalite height is the same height as DPMS high profile which is the same as SR25 height. Just the thread pitch is different.
