Hello all. In need of some hide expertise. I Just bought a Remington 700 5r gen 2 in 6.5 creed. I put the barreled action into a grayboe renegade stock with a Hawkins Precision dbm. M5 pattern. I just received arc mags that I purchased and the problem I’m having is the mags will not lock in. After looking I noticed the follower at the front of the mag is hitting the bottom of the receiver under the feed ramp. Is it normal for the receiver to protrude into the bottom metal as I also just put a long action 7mm mag together with same grayboe stock and Hawkins dbm and the receiver does not protrude into the dbm at all. I can’t see anything being wrong with the mags or the dbm as they fit well together. Only thing I can think is the short action is shorter than normal or some how the inletting of the stock is somehow wrong, or am I just totally missing something? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I just had to send my Remington short action with a Grayboe renegade stock back to my gunsmith. The PT&G bottom metal did not feed properly. He had to raise the DBM area to allow the bolt to pick up the rounds. The stock came as a pre-cut DBM. Not sure if that is your problem or not.

Thanks for your input. Unfortunately I don’t have another type of mag to try in this setup or another stock to try this setup in. I have a feeling it has something to do with the inletting in the stock but not certain. I suppose I’ll be making a few phone calls Monday
