I'm planning a Bergara B14r 22lr build, and I'm wondering what scope base I should go with. I'm thinking I want a 20MOA , but not sure if I should go with a 20MOA rail and regular rings, or should I get a direct mount like this: https://www.midwayusa.com/product/2268297692.

I'm going with a Vortex Viper PST 5-25x50 and everything will be in a ORYX chassis, unless someone can convince me to change my plans

I'm personal view on these is, you'll be very restricted on scope position. At least with a picatiny rail you could use any mount configuration to get the perfect scope placement.

    Good point. Thanks!

For a B14R you will want at least 40 MOA built in in my opinion. What scope are you running. Ive got a 40 MOA on mine and I can reach 500m with my optic

Vortex Viper PST, It has 20 mils of total adjustment. If it zeros perfectly centered with a 0moa base, I'll have 34moa to play with. Dont think I'll be able to run a 40moa base unless I buy a better scope

I am running a 20moa LaRue on mine. I have the Burris RT25 with XTR Medium rings and have enough adjustment in the optic with a 50 yard zero to do 300 yards. I just replaced the rings with Lower Warren Tac rings and should have enough to get to 400 without holdover. I will find out this upcoming weekend if I get my rifle back from the Cerakoter on Wednesday or Thursday.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. I think I'll end up going with a 20moa rail
id save some coin and get what i think is the better scope in a strike eagle 5-25 over a pst gen 2 especially in a rimfire where youre gonna want the extra elevation plus some other nice features

you can run a 40moa rail with one no problem

Holy smokes!!!!!! I think you found me a winner.
I never even looked at that scope because I didn't think anything other than the viper/razor models had zero-stops. Apparently this one does.
I was looking at Athlon scopes that have the larger tube size, but definitely want to stay with Vortex for their amazing warranty/customer service

if you want the zero stop you're limited to a 20moa base. and only 18mil elevation then which doesnt quite get you to 400y

but with a 40moa base you'll have about 6mil below zero (less than one rev. basically a zero stop) and 24mil or so before using the reticle

Why can't you still set the zero-stop? Is it only able to be set towards the middle of the elevation range or something?
