Need some 6XC load data

Well I will be receiving my new 6XC bench rifle soon. Have Redding 3 piece comp. die set on the way and 300 cases.

Here are the powders and bullets I have on hand:

107 SMK's...only a couple hundred
115 Berger VLD's 700+
115 DTAC's around 500

Varget, RL-19, IMR-4350, and RL-15.


Any input and load data would be great. Tubbs 6XC site has very little load data.

You might try American rifle man or some of the powder company's websites. All I know is it shoots.

I think that anywhere from 34.5 - 39.9 grs. H4350 will work with 115 DTAC's BN. I had one bbl that would not take 39.4 without leaving an ejector mark. I have shot lots of 107's for practice & IIRC they were 37.5 - 38.5 grs. H4350. I have experimented with H100V, RL17, Varget, Supreme 780 & nothing shoots as well as H4350. I have not chrono'd anything out of the new bbl. but will in the coming weeks. We have a 1000 yard match coming up in Aug. & I need some numbers.

Been running 38.2 grains of H4350, WLR primers, Berger 105 VLD's and Tubb Brass in mine, gives me 3,050 fps. I never could get the 107's to shoot so I switched to the 105 Bergers. It's a 1-8 Krieger so I never tried the 115's. The 6XC will absolutely drill.

Thanks guys...I went with a 1:7.5 twist as I have all these 115's I want to shoot.
I have a 1:7 twist McGowen barrel on the way for my "budget build" Savage target action based .243 so I have lots of bullets for both.

I will post some range reports as soon as everything shows up.

Nice rest. The 115's will hammer out of your 1-7.5. H4350 is the $hit from an XC

Stan, I've had good luck with RL17 and the 105 Scenars out of my XC...running 39.0. 3100fps out of a 27" Bartlein 1-7.5 5R.

Wolf LR primer
40.0 H4350
Moly 115 DTAC seated 2.740

I have loaded with CCI BR2 and Fed210m. Neither compares favorably to the Wolf, plus the wolf is cheap.....DTAC ammo available from SSS is loaded with 39.8 H4350 with the same primers.

I would say start at 38 or 39 and work up to sticky bolt and back off 1/2 grain and you are set. This was the advise given to me by Brand Cole when I bought my T2K SpecTacLr. Good luck with the new stick.

Winchester 22-250 brass
Wolf LR primer
chronoed at 3030 at 85 degress
Pac-Nor 1:8 Polygon barrel at 25.5 inches

Thanks guys. I just ordered 8 lbs of H4350 and 5 lbs of RL-17 plus 3K or Wolf LR primers and 1K or LR Magnum Wolf primers...been told they work well with RL-17 in the 6XC.

That should keep me busy for awhile.
