GunsmithingNeed some advice for a wood stock project
I have been handed a stock for my Win 52B and as you can see it's been buggered up pretty good. I want to fill the bottom section amd then fix that buttstock spacer disaster. I was thinking Bondo and some screws or nails for it to grab onto? Any suggestions, help would be appreciated. Thanks, Kevin
That stock is pretty far gone. Replacement stocks are easily available on e-bay. If you must fix it, you need to get walnut blocks and glue/acraglass them to the old stock, using dowels to reinforce. Then reshape the blocks to match the stock contours.
That's how I feel looking at that...... I mean I think I kinda know where they were going with it but then just sort of winged it and there you go. I like a project as much as the next guy but I think I'd get a replacement stock and treat that one as my bitch stock to practice repairs on.
