So I have decided to go with a Vudoo barreled action instead of a full Kidd build. But that makes the budget a little tighter for completing the build. I'm looking for some ideas for a stock, trigger, optic and rings. I was thinking of going with a Magpul hunter stock. As far as the optic I was thinking for the top end a Vortex PST gen 2 and on the bottom end a Bushnell Match Pro. As far as the trigger I may not try to save much and go with a Triggertech Diamond two stage. I would love to get some ideas on these. I am looking to get into NRL22 and NRL22X. I am also completely open to anything used if anyone is trying to get rid of any of these items.

Also ideas on scope base moa. I was thinking a 20 or 30moa but I'm not really sure the best route to go here.

Bushnell Match Pro is actually a really solid optic. And it's priced about what the cost/value is, even with mil discount you only get a few bucks off.

I would skip the Magpul Hunter and try to save a little bit more for a KRG Bravo.

Triggers, upto you on what you like.

    Get a 30moa rail.

KRG bravo (the magpul is a joke, and will cost within $30 because you still have to buy bottom metal/plastic)

Match pro is a solid choice.
I've owned plenty of vortex, but don't have any anymore. Anything less than a razor and there's always a better option.

You can get away with cheaper rings, $40 Weaver tacticals are solid and cheap.

    EGW 30moa base.

So I was checking out the KRG Bravo when I came across the X-ray. For only a bit more money it also seems like a good option. Does anyone have any experience with it?
I put a V22/18" Kukri in an X-Ray. I really like it, but I did have some contact of the Trigger Tech Diamond safety lever with the chassis initially, so had to mill a little more clearance for it to function "right". It wasn't a big deal, but it DID require a little bit of fitting. I believe the X-Ray is around $100 more than a Bravo.

Do you happen to have any pictures of this setup? I am deciding on a 18" or 20" today.

If I had it to do over, I'd go with the 20". As the other guys have recommended, I also would spend a little more and opt for the PST if you are going with Vortex. The Strike Eagle is just OK. I was hoping for something between the Diamondback Tactical and Razor, but this is definitely MUCH closer to the Diamondback.

I think I am going to do with the 20". Thanks for the bit about the Strike Eagle I was actually looking at them earlier. And particular things you didn't like about it?

Why do you prefer the 20"?

It's not horrible, and I don't want to rip on it, I just think these days for a bit more $ you may be able to do a little better. It's tough with budget optics (in my limited experience), because you are actually getting a lot of features for the price. I just personally can't afford to put a Razor or equivalent on everything. But... to name a couple of things that could be improved upon - the turrets are pretty mushy, the parallax adj is a little stiff, and you lose a good chunk of elevation when you use the zero stop insert. Again, not a bad scope for the price, but I personally wish I had tried one before I purchased. Just my 2 cents...

I have an 18" Kukri, and would've preferred to get a 20" MTU for more weight and balance instead of having to pay an additional $200 in weights.

You think you would have wanted that much more weight over the 18" Kukri? My local dealer has both 18" and 20" in both Kukri and MTU. I feel like the MTU was a bit excessive but I was also just holding a barreled action.

i didn’t catch it but you might have said already what are your main functions of the rifle going to be? If it’s a trainer rifle and going to be dedicated to NRL22 then go MTU IMO. The kukri is nice but it doesn’t balance all that well when you have a stock on the gun. My 18” kukri with a suppressor actually jumps a little when the rifle is fired. It’s very slight BUT I have learned you have to “drive” the rifle much more because if you get sloppy it will shoot high due to the jump.

my manners is an elite carbon PRS2 and I wish it was heavier it’s too light for me.

I run NRL22/22X and a balanced rifle is definitely much easier to shoot precisely off compromised positions.

This is a custom MDT ACC with the rear end replaced with an aluminum replacement piece, no bag rider, so I've cut a good .7-.8 lbs off the rear. It is running an 18" Kukri, I have 3 internal weights, and 4 external weights, adding about 3.1 lbs of weights to the front. This barely balances in front of the mag well.

I was calculating if I was going to do with this with the X-Ray, I'd end up doing

    KRG X-ray
ARCA Enclosed End (Adds another 9oz)
    KRG T-Weight
    20" MTU

I think that'd end up pretty balanced, and drop me about 2lbs from my above setup.

I need to stop talking to you guys lol. Now I'm thinking 20" mtu. Such hard decisions given this will be my first "precision" rifle. And the idea is NRL22 and NRL22X. Eventually when there is more money I want to step up into centerfire PRS/NRL. So yeah this is probably what you would consider a trainer.

Yea hanging around here gets expensive lol. I sent you a PM about a PST by the way.

To echo some suggestions- KRG bravo over the MagPul all DAY.

Viper PST II is a great scope for rimfire. IF you're looking to save a little, the 5-25x Strike Eagle is a nice option. You gain locking turrets and 30mm tube. Turrets may be a little less tactile and the optical quality may be a smidgin less, but if you're primarily shooting 100 yards and in not a huge difference.

I might suggest a little bit of saving on the TriggerTech. The two-stage Special will get you down to 1lb. If you don't plan to go below 1 lb the Special will suffice. BUT, if you gotta get that weight below 1lb, Diamond is the way to go.

Not sure of your preference for a stock or chassis, but I know when I start on my Vudoo i'm going to look into the MDT XRS chassis. For the money this is an awesome stock/chassis. I have one on my centerfire and love the grip and adjustability at $500. You can also add the MDT side weights to this chassis to get the weight or balance you are looking for.

I did look at this but honestly their photo of it killed it for me. It looks way to much like a mosin archangel.

thays what I saw too. When you asked about the KRG I recalled that MDT made something similar. Then went and looked. I was like wth that thing reminds me of an archangel trash lol.

bravo is about the best “cheap” chassis available BUT they are super light weight.

Definitely going with the Bravo and kadams1563 hooked me up with a PST. My issue now is finding the trigger tech 2 stage. Gonna have to go with the single stage for now.

I believe Trigger Tech has a black Friday sale if you can wait a month. A little searching and you can find what the sale was last year to get an idea of pricing.

For anyone interested in where an 18" Kukri in an X-Ray balances (no additional weights, just the plastic pic rail that came with the chassis).

Yeh that's why I figured the ARCA aluminum fore-end + t-block weight should move the center of balance out about 3 inches from where your picture shows.

Stock: Like others have said, KRG or wait to see if Grayboe has a Black Friday sale.
Scope: Meopta Optika6 or the limited run Bushnell HDMR II with the 25yd parallax.
Trigger: Wait for Black Friday sales on TriggerTech.

Whoever owns that needs to have MDT use that for the website. That looks great.

Yes, it's a great looking build that's for sure!

@MDT_OFFICIAL on feedback about nicer photos for the XRS :)

Thank you, you can always check out our customer gallery as well!

Thanks everyone for your help on my first rifle build. Definitely spent more than planned but I got almost everything together today. Need to get the optic right and torqued. Also have to get another Atlas since I accidently ordered the 2 screw version. Old crappy Harris knock off for the moment.

Not sure if I am a fan of the Bravo yet. @MDT_OFFICIAL I am thinking I need to find more money my wife doesn't know about and put in a order from you.

Sweet. Any weight at all in the front? If you remove the Bipod does it still balance?

Nice setup, it should shoot and balance wonderfully in NRL22.
No extra weight. Haven't tried without the bipod yet but I will. I do feel like it is just a tad heavy on the rear. I do plan on putting a 12" arca rail, atlas psr, and a brake or suppressor so maybe that will be just enough.

Is it not free sitting on that stairwell? Or is it being clamped in by the bipod? I ask since you say it's a tad rear heavy but it looks balanced in that picture?
