Hey guys I am having some trouble with my ballistic calculator giving me the right dope (so I think). I am using bulletflight on my Iphone. Yesterday I shot out to 800 yards and I couldnt get my numbers to match.

Here is my data
338 Lapua
300 SMK I used bullet database
2830 fps
1.5 sight height
400 ft elev
29.92 baro
0 wind (it was dead calm)
85 deg

I was zeroed @ 300 and @ 792 yards Bulletflight called for 56 clicks or 14 MOA up, but only needed 11.25 what gives? I have tried to tweak the program (muzzle velocity, B.C. ect but have not managed to get things to line up yet. Is there something I am missing or is it common for calculators not to be spot on.

Does your scope track properly? Have you actually tested it?

I ran the numbers on JBM, which I have found to be very close to actual results, and it said 13.8 MOA to 790 with above numbers.

Re: Need some help with dope please ?

Rob I haven't tested the scope, its a NXS 5.5x22, I quess it is possible that its off. But I havent noticed it when shooting groups @ closer ranges. I will test it though. You got 13.8 MOA @ 790 with JBM but I only needed 11.25 is it common for JBM to be that far off.

Thanks for the help
Corey

No it's not common at all. JBM is usually right on. A NF is probably tracking correct. They are one of the scopes that usually work fine but with that big of a difference I would check it to make sure.
