I thought the 'hunting' section was the best place to put this. Pictured is the Savage O/U .22 and .410 that was given to me for my 10th birthday by my grandafther, as well as another satisfied customer...

I have hunted with this gun for 35 years. The other day I was out, and quite comfortable beneath an old hickory tree using my old barker to call in some tree rats. One came down a tree about 20 yards from me to see what the heck all the barkin' was about and I put the bead on him and squeezed....nothing.

Seems the small piece of metal inside the gun that acts as the selector for over or under had broken. I turned the gun over and it came out in my hand. The last picture shows the small piece of pot-metal that broke.

So, being that the gun is extremely important to me but is now limited to only .22, I must get it repaired. I know that it is beyond my abilities, where do I go to get it fixed?

Re: Need Some Help...

Seems like something that any decent smith could get taken care of you?

Although, Id imagine we already know the answer, have you tried calling the company and see if they have any lying around?

Re: Need Some Help...

The CEO of Savage is Ron Coburn. He is a pretty good guy. I would write him directly, send all the fotos you have especially one with teh serial number and any other identifying marks and explain the entire situation.

He'll point you in the right direction.

Let him know how much you love the rifle, blah blah blah.

Here is his mailing address 100 Springdale Road
Westfield, MA 01085

Re: Need Some Help...

This is a Savage 24. If you Google 'savage 24' there are several resources to help. There is a pdf of the exploded parts view as well as a savage24.com for enthusiasts.

If you send me your email, I'll send you the links.

I sort of like this little gun, I may have to buy a used one!!
