In the process of learning reloading I have discovered that my Rem 700 chamber is long for my AI mags. If or when I decide to put a new barrel on can I dictate a chamber length that fits my AI mags perfectly?

Re: New barrel question...

I'm not an expert but I did stay at a holiday inn express last night. This question would probably be answered better in the gunsmithing section. Also I would think your gunsmith could use a reamer that would get the desired result your looking for.
good luck Rthur

Re: New barrel question...

Yes, you can have it set up to the length you want for the bullets you want to shoot. When the time comes talk to your smith about it and I'm sure they can get you lined out. You could also have your factory barrel set back now and cut a new chamber for mag length loads. There's several more than competent smiths here that could do it for you and probably answer your question a lot better than I did...

Unless you like single-loading....

Yes, as 468shot says. But I'd look into a new/better barrel before I'd rechamber a factory barrel. YMMV.

Yes. I plan to shoot out this one and then go from there.
