I have had this thing a few years, never used it much because the data I get from it is never right... SO I have been using the MUCH Slower Distance function on Ballistic FTE.... till I Screwed myself on a stage this weekend.

Yes, I have it on Yards.

When I align 40" with 4 MOA I get 995 Yards

As we know, 40" X 95.5 = 3820 /4 = 955

I made a Scribe mark today, like you would do for IPHY but much lower on the scale to get them near correct. Is this something I am doing wrong ? Or do I have a dead battery / out of scale MDM ? Thanks in advance

Battery?

Mine has never been off before, my target size estimation has been off though.

BTW: If you are really seeing a 40" target as 4 moa, 955 yds is correct.

Re: New Battery for MilDot Master ?

Are you saying a 40" target that reads 4MOA on the Scope should be 955 yards away? Using 4moa = 1.1 mil, I get that at 1010 yards with ballisticscomputer.xls and the MDM both but when I use the 4 min. number, the master reads the 955 value. I can get closer to the calculated values on the mil side of the MDM, I think the decimal rounding gets magnified at longer distances.
I know it didn’t help But…

Re: New Battery for MilDot Master ?

This is a more precise number. I have to grab my MDM and look at this, I never use MOA.

40" x 27.78
/
1.165 mils = 953.75 yds

Ace,

Does yours look like this?

Mine looks like 955 yds.....

Re: New Battery for MilDot Master ?

Ace,

My MDM scale and yours are indeed different. For example: I have 15 and 20 degree lines and yours start at 25 degrees. My 25 degree line indicates 860 yds, yours indicates 900 yds.

My 50 degrees down angle indicates 610 yds, yours 640 yds

Your MDM scale appears to be a full 40 yds off, except when it is not........

I think you have a knock off product, not a copyrighted Mildot Master.

I have always been amazed at how accurate and fast the Mildot Master is.
