I shot several groups with 45 g of h4831sc and 139 scrnars, but when I got my brake on it and tuned from 45-47g it settled on 45.1. It moved POI low and left, but if it keeps shooting like this I'll be ok.

The one next is 8 shots @ 100yds, and the 1st is the load with Brake (M41) and 45.1g H4831sc and is a 5 shot group @ 150yds

Thank you Jon for a perfect build, and looking forward to my 243 build. Also thank you Dan from OCW loads, and lots of people who shoot h4831sc in their 260. The H4350 just didn't cut it with 1/2" groups at 100, but the last three 5 shot groups were (purple dot .156", and a worst of .3's") AGG .2's".
Also like to thank another Hide member for the 260 mod case to help me find the lands, as well as Bob Beck from Extreme Outer Limits TV for a great deal on the scope.

BP Rem 700
HSP stock bedded (chasis on way)
Seekins rings (Med High)
NF 3.5-15x50 NXS MV.5 Vel 1000 ret
Old style 700 trigger tuned to 2lbs
M41 Brake, Kampfeld bolt knob
Krieger MTU 1/8.5 tw 24" brrl
All metal but Brake and knob bead blasted, with Jon's Stamp of approval on brrl
Only 80 rds down tube so far. Thanks guys. Was hoping for 1/2" Tactical gun, but it's hanging with my 6BR at 3/600yds with new load so far.

Looks like you have it dialed in nicely! I need to try some 4831sc. I have only used H4350 so far in my .260, but keep reading great things about the 4831, so I may have to buy a pound to try out.

My 260 Improved 30* also likes 4831SC. First load I tried with SC used S142MKs & F210s in necked-down WW7-08 cases, and it hammered at 600. Vertical for that first 5-shot 600yd group was an inch or less, and the rifle's shot very consistently with this load ever since. Velocity's not what I'd hoped for at 2670fps, but I may have a 'slow' bbl. It's a SS Bartlein 4-groove 8.5tw in sendero contour that I finished at 26", threaded into a new trued SA700. I used a Jewell HVR, PTG Stealth DBM, EGW 20 MOA sloped base w/TPS TSR rings holding a Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50. Threaded the muzzle 5/8-24 for a Harrell's Precision tactical brake, then later swapped it out for a TBAC brake/mount so I could use my 30BA can.

Initially skim bedded the bbl'd action into a B&C 1000 stock that Wade had inletted for M5 DBM, and it shot great in that stock. Recently acquired an adjustable McM A5 that was factory inletted for M5, and moved the bbl'd action into it after bedding with Devcon. Was slightly more than somewhat amazed that POI didn't change as much as a click after the stock swap, even after removing & reinstalling the scope twice while doing some machine work on the action after the McM swap.

I've played with cartridges from the 223 AI to 280 AI in tactical rifles, and this 260 Imp is quickly becoming one of my favorites. I'll be trying RL17 with the 142s in search for more velocity, but if it doesn't shoot as good as SC, I'll settle for 2670 and go on down the road. Bought this stock off McM's inventory list - forest camo wouldn't have been my 1st choice, but it doesn't clash with the FDE CeraKote I used on the metal parts.

Thanks guys. Couldn't have done it without this site. That's an awesome lookin stick Flatland. Seems you should be getting more velocity, but if it hammers.. who cares? I like the stock, and color. Mine will be going into a Mcree, or Rock Solid very soon. I checked vel again today and it was showing 2750-2780?? I need to get rid of this borrowed piece of junk, and get a good one.

Thanks GHB - I've really enjoyed working with this rifle; yours is shooting at least as good as the best I've seen out of mine so far, so I'm sure you're going to be pleased with the choices you made.

On the velocity thing - the load I'm using for fireforming uses RS Hunter or surplus Data 85, which is essentially the same thing. S123MKs are shooting very well in this FF load, which has been running 2900-2925fps. Used it out to 600yds during the last steel match, then switched to the 142s & 4831SC on out to 1100. Sure is fun to watch those 123s stacking up on top of each other on steel while fireforming. I should probably try Hunter/Data 85 with the 142s to see how accuracy & velocity compares to SC - ya never know, it might be just the ticket.

My 260 rifle also loves H-4831sc with the 142 SMK's and shoots just as well as the H-4350. The only difference is that I have to add a bit more of the H-4831sc to get about the same velocity as the H-4350.

Hey Capt Academy... What charge are you running with the h4831sc, and what vel are you getting? I'm getting a lil crunch with 45.1g but no pressure signs, and I can load out another .13" to the lands. I like the 140 Hybrids cuz I can load them out to 2.910" and single feed em, and push em harder with 46-48g H4831sc. I've not tried it with the 139's since their doing so good.

BTW Flatland.. What's your drop chart look like (in moa) out to 1000 with that velocity? 2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9/1K? Thanks.
NilesC? how you liking that AICS chasis?

I got a tikka sporter in 260. Been running 44.1 gr h4350&142 smk. Shoots in the .4s@2840, my supply of h4350 is dwindling down. Got a couple 8 lbers of 4831sc for my 243s, might have to save the 4350 for my creedmoor and try some 4831sc in the old 260. Dang nice stick groundhogbuster, got it dialed in nice. How is the brake compared to say a bo fte in terms of recoil and blast? Have not been around one of those

What charge and what speeds do you get with the H4831sc?

We have 25 to 30 guys that run 260s in the club and 95% of them use 47gn of H4831SC with great results out to distance.
