Depressing going to the dealers [6] in my area of the florida panhandle where the pickup is king . Budget ceiling is 175K wife wants me to just go back to corvettes and get a z06 ,while i am liking the caddy ct5v blackwing . I have been out of the game for so long the others are not in production anymore like a trackhawk or viper . Boss 429 looked kinda fun but who knows when or how much . The challenger's new look is brutal . Every day driver ,2 doors ,automatic , no road course or dragstrip but you pull up at the light and its on . any suggestions ?

Are you going to track it? Z06 best bang for buck. ZR1 if you want top performance without mods in your budget. If you just want micro penis car for around town street light racing either will work. A Blackwing or 1LE Camaro are cheaper options for the track and are both great.

>175k ceiling
>Viper
Why not just buy a platform that responds to mods well and make yourself a rocket. Or build a turbo Viper.

Neither of these are that impressive for the money, imo.

You could certainly stomp the crap out of both of those with a modded RS3 / M2 / Supra / Your preferred domestic platform of choice.

if you are racing any where near a stop light you are a fucking moron.
Do we only do rolls, Juan?

i am 72 ...i aint building nothing anymore ,i stopped doing my own oil changes 20 years ago

Holy shit....$175,000 budget for a new car? That's just.....awesome for you.

\.

My wife is constantly bitching at me over wanting to update my kart racing chassis for $4200.00. Some women just don't want their husbands to have enjoyment and blissful recreation 😤 It's far easier to ask for forgiveness than to EVER ask for permission, i guess. I give 2 options: support something helpful to your others mental health or get out of their way and let them be.

FML....

Supposed to start at 175-180k
Your grand total on the check all in will be close to that for a 26 LOADED z06 including cup tires that you can wear out in a weekend on a big road course and cant drive in rain or cold weather . The zora's will be demanding a LARGE bragging rights dealer fee.

Do you have shops nearby that work on built cars?

How about something like the Superformance Corvette Grand Sport, this one here is $155k. Or get one of their GT40 builds.. or or or

Sadly these hillbillies around here can't build anything like that....skilled labor around here is scarce for just about everything . I kinda looked into a 66 ss chevelle that i was gonna put a 572 crate motor in ....but its beyond them here

Wait for the 2026 Corvette ZR1X to hit the streets. 1200 horsepower and a 0-60 under 2 seconds
There are two option models. The higher optioned one has an MSRP of $199K. Local dealer expects offers to come in around $300K for the higher optioned one.

Said they have two customers that will pay $300K. Most car guys I know say $300K will be the number.

There are some badass car builders in Florida. I can think of one in Gainesville, a couple in Clearwater, and I live in Montana....

that is my understanding.......i was "one of those guys" that paid a dealer bragging fee for my ordered 06 z06 but i aint dropping that kinda of coin on a chevy ,i will up my budget and go ferrari

GT4 RS would be my pick for that price range, but based on your stated goals and use case, I’d go with an Audi RS6 or RS7. You could also pick up an X5M Competition and have money left over. My neighbor gets a new one of those every year…damn fast luxury cruiser for the money.

Maybe a gently used CPO Porsche Panamera Turbo.

You might even be able to find a used Lamborghini Urus for that price, but maintenance costs are gonna kill you.

Edit: re-read your post, and realize I misinterpreted your desires. A gently used/CPO Porsche 911 Turbo S will eat anything else in that price range alive for stoplight-to-stoplight type races.

If it’s an every day driver and want sports car performance but more room than a coupe look at a used but CPO Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT. You can pick one up CPO for $150K and under.

650HP twin turbo V8, ceramic brakes, rear wheel steering, Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), and PTV which is Porsches LSD or limited slip differential, titanium exhaust, Adjustable suspension ride height and carbon fiber roof to keep the weight down.

They HAUL ASS and handle like a sports car yet more space and functionality.

Here’s a CPO example for $152K. Cost around $1500 to get shipped to you enclosed.

no more porshes

no more Porsches
I get it.

I’m the same way with GM… when they screwed the bond holders (me among them) back during Obummer’s term, I said never again even though I grew up driving Chevys and raced Z28s. I wanted to get my wife a Cadillac CTS-V wagon, and I’d be driving a Corvette with a Z28 track car myself, but won’t allow any GM products to park on my driveway now, let alone allow one into my garage.

Seriously; I’ve made people park on the street rather than allow a GM product in my driveway. LoL

If you’re discounting the usual European fare for top contenders in that price range, I’m not too sure where to go other than a Corvette Z06, or maybe (eventually) a used ZR1. I’d consider a Ford Mustang GT, or maybe a Dark Horse, and throw on the factory-warrantied supercharger kit before either of those options though.

The GTD would beat them all, but it starts at $300K+…and now you’re back into lower-end supercar territory again.

If you don’t have to have the absolute fastest drag race vehicle, a new Ford F150 Raptor R might be a good pick too. Very nice ride, and fast as hell. I have a regular Raptor, but another neighbor has the Raptor R (as well as a Porsche Turbo S, LoL), and it’s fast as hell. Sounds great too…I love that V8 rumble.

For me, I’d get the Porsche GT4 RS and turn my Cayman R into a true track car, or maybe try to find a higher mileage Ferrari 458 Italia for that price.
