This. A lot of scientists and researchers enter school and graduate with very big dreams of pursuing a career in making discoveries and testing theories...Only to have these dreams crushed when they sign up with a corporate or government agency.

Such entities do not encourage or foster individual creativity or disagreement with their established agenda. They want to maintain a hive mind, and if any daring dissenters step up to challenge the status quo, they face disciplinary action or termination with blacklisting.
