new gun

hi guy's
i have lot's of non magnum guns
so i decided to build magnum one
did some research and looks like 7mm remington magnum
or maybe 7mm stw
any ideas ??
i will be hunting with this gun so it has to be somewhat light!
recoil is no problem
planing to use hs precision stock
maybe remington action and lilja barell
with nikon monarch scope
so any ideas on any other calibers i should look @

Id go WSM in 7 or 30...for the lighterweight part if a magnum is what you want.
I just did a 7WSM in hunting config. Looks promising.

Hard to beat a 7mm mag with a 162gr amax from hornady with a bc of over .6 pushing it to nearly 3000 fps. The ballistics on the 7mm wsm look pretty good aswell but barrel life might become a concern. I myself like the 300 win mag for hunting caliber but ive shot a 7mag and it seemed to be a good gun for a factory rifle. Depending on how big you want to go and what you are hunting you could go with a 7mm RUM which is a cannon but recoil might become a problem with a lighter rifle. If you don't want to go big you can always go with a 270 wsm bullet diameter is .277 compared to .284 with 7mm so your not losing much there and it depending on ballistics you use it is leveler and faster than 300 WM out to 1000 lacks the knock down power but it is an interesting round for hunting.
