I want to say thank you to all of you who have and are providing advice and lessons learned. The amount of information here is truly overwhelming and I'm only reading the forums. I'm not lurking; I'm 'absorbing'. I will get to the online training. A lifelong hunter and shooter, I've always considered myself a pretty good shot inside of 150yds (within my circle of shooting friends) and I look forward to learning how to reach out farther. I bought a DPMS LR308 almost a year ago now, before all this craziness, 24" and put a Falcon Menace on top. Maximum tool for my budget. And I must say that trying to unlearn bad habits and apply what I'm reading here has got me shooting all over the place! Its amusing and frustrating at the same time. It will get better.
What has stood out to me on this site is the amount of courtesy and respect given by most everyone. The level of expertise here is mind numbing and it is great to read a question, someones response on how they might fix it and they sign off with " 'but what do I know'.... John Doe, Distinguished Rifle shooter, accolade, accolade. wow. That says a lot about the man who gave the response and I see it often here, as opposed to the 'better than thou' attitude that we all know from life. And while the new guy may be a fool if he doesn't listen, ya didn't feel the need to say it that way. Good stuff. I don't know that I'll have much to offer here content wise, but I look forward to spending more time here. Thanks.
I used to reload for cowboy shoots, now I'll change over to 308. A new game.
Our club maxes out at 400yds, but its better than 100. And we travel to Maine in the winter where I will have access to longer shots.
