New Guy in MD

Finally got the bite from the bug hard enough...got a screaming deal on a never been shot "New from the safe" Savage FCP K in 308 with a vortex 5x15 mounted on a weaver base & rings...so now the question is how does it shoot...what is the proper break in procedure for one of these rifles, and any practical upgrades that I should start looking for? Thanks in advance guys...

I'm up in North East MD, close to the PA line...haven't found a good distance range yet, but I've got a spot of land down in the Shenandoah valley that serves the purpose nicely when I can find the time to get away...
