Everyone on this site needs to check out the Barne's Precision Machine website and check out his rifles. He's a local boy here in Apex North Carolina. I dont know him personally but saw one of his complete AR-15 rifles and was impressed enough to give him a call and talk with him about his stuff. He uses superior barrels and parts. He has desinged his own free float forend. When you see it, you immediatly think LMT but it is not. It works with standard milspec uppers and is very reasonably priced IMO. But where his stuff really shines is when you get into his AR-10 line. The man has solved the issue of compact fractures on the bottom side of the barrell snout by making an upper with a thicker wall. This gives the upper the strenght to handle the additional weight of the 308 barrell. Typically the AR-10 upper reciever is the same thickness as the AR-15 which over time and extended use allows fractures on the bottom of the barrel snout. Not with his. I think you will be severally impressed. He has also increased the height of the picatiny rail atop the AR-10 in an effort to set an industry standard height for optics, for there isn't one at this time. Check him out! You won't be dissapointed. All this, and I don't even own one..... YET!

Re: New guy on the block designing AR's!!!!

I actually just looked and didn't see the AR-10 on the web site. I was originally in the market for "another" AR-15 when I called him. It was on the phone that he told me about his AR-10 that is about to hit the market. He was at "Shot" this year. So some of you may have met him.
