I am new to reloading and want to develop a load for my 6.5 CM. I realize that H-4350 is a popular powder, but I cannot find it. What are some other powders for 140 grain a-max or Bergers?

I apologize for asking a question that is probably common. I am new to this forum.

Thanks

Just ran some RL17 yesterday and got some very surprising velocities with 139 Scenars. Only three shots, but 2920 with 42.0gr and 2968 with 42.5gr. Yup, I'd be a bit doubtful too, but I picked this gun up from Idaho1 a year ago and he'd recorded 2955 with 42.0gr and 140 Bergers, so I'm thinking I've got a 'faster' barrel. Don't think I'll push beyond 42.5, as pressure signs were showing. High 80's, fairly low humidity and V3 Magneto Speed. These is 26" Lilja R700 action. 2842/2871 with 42/42.5 in 22" Criterion barreled AR. Have seen more RL17 around than most powders.

RE 22 is too slow and Varget is too fast. The 4350 speed powders will be the best area as far as burn speed for the 140s. Some have gotten good results with RE 17 so it's worth a try if you can find it.

RE-17 will consistently yield higher velocities then H4350. With a decent length barrel you can push those suckers 3000 FPS with something shorter 2900 is not difficult.

H4350 is my preferred powder for the 6.5 CM but used IMR 4350 when I was out of it. Shot very well and gave slightly higher velocities with the same charge. Only downside is that is more temperature sensitive than the H1000.

I appreciate it. Found 5 pound containers at Sportsman's Warehouse for 109. Of course, shipping and hazmat put the total near 30 bucks per container, but I should be good for a while. That was the best price I've seen for it.

thanks for all the help guys.
