Hello Everyone,
I figure after lurking and reading this site for a few months, I should sign up. GREAT amount of information here on the forums as well as the articles. Ive been shooting since i was 18, now 30, and decided to get into the .308 game again. I did .223 and as much as I like the .223 round, I prefer the .308. So the .223 stays as a paper puncher for now.
I am in the early stages of building/putting together a .308 semi-auto AR sytle rifle. Hopefully I dont ask some question thats discussed 10 times a day on here as I AM a fan of the search button
My goal right now is to be proficiant out to 500 yards, as thats the furthest out the nearest range near me is. The range I prefer go to though is only out to 200 yards though, but i figure baby steps... right. If some, one, anyone would mind cretiqueing my parts list below I'd much appreciate it. Rather buy the right part then find out it was the wrong thing afterall.
*HAVE SO FAR*
POF lower, complete with Timney Trigger (3# pull)& PRS stock w/ monopod
POF upper *stripped, but with dust cover assy & fwd asst
POF monolithic rail
Some cheaper Nikon 3-9x40 scope that I just have as a "decent" backup or when i want to switch from a red dot to a scope.
*parts yet to buy*
chrome BCG. looking at either JP *idk between low mass or full mass* or the Fulton Armory version
Barrel. I am really leaning towards a Rainier Arms 20" Ultra Match barrel... if they ever come back into stock.
Scope. im sure there are 100's of choices. Im really liking the zeiss conquest mil dot 6.5-20x50.
I do reload so unless I come across a GREAT deal on match .308 ammo, i will be rolling my own. Funny i say that cause i have about 240'ish rounds of factory match ammo with the 168gr A-Max bullet and prob 100 rounds of left over 165 gr ammo i made myself.
