So I finally stepped things up a bit and bought a new Savage.

For now I would like to use some optics that I have laying around. Out of these two scopes what one would you suggest. Im looking to stretch this gun out as long as far as I can. Thanks for the info and I look forward to learning a lot on here!
First is a Nikon

Second is a Bushnell

Re: New guy with some questions

Not that I have the most experience but from what I saw the Nikon is not going to be very useful as it only has 20 MOA of adjustment. The Bushnell has 50 MOA so with a 20 MOA rail you could presumably get 45 MOA up if everything works out perfectly. So I would choose the Bushnell for the time being.

Re: New guy with some questions

I would run the 4200 with a 20MOA rail depending on what caliber your rifle is. Or you could sale the two scopes you got and go with a PST like 71firebird400 suggested. But again out of the two you have my vote is for the 4200.

Re: New guy with some questions

Even with a 20 moa rail you are going to run out of adjustment, and that is if all does go perfect. So I would say sell the two and get something you like for the gun you are using it on. The PST would be ok, or look into the Monarch X line but not as much magnification.

Re: New guy with some questions

Before i went with the monarch x i would buy a good used leupold LR way more MOA adjustment then the monarch x. That was the only downfall with the X. I was disappointed in the amount of adjustment the x had.
