Hey all! I'm new here and I was wondering if you all could help me with a Remington 700 build. But first a little background. I've been shooting rifles my whole life, but I just barely got into wanting more precision. Something about the endless quest to get 5 shots into one hole really gets my adrenaline going. I love shooting my grandad's old bolt action .22 at 300 yards and I've heard that shooting a .22 at that range is a lot like shooting a .308 at really long ranges. So I want to build a .308 longe range precision rig. Here is what I am thinking and I would like input, comments, or help. All thoughts are welcome!
Remington 700 VTR
Bell & Carlson M40 Medalist stock
Timney #510 Trigger Kit
Harris S-BRM 6"-9" Bipod
Hawke Endurance 30 SF 6-24x50 Scope
That is what I have planned so far. The only other thing I know I want is a detachable mag kit. Is there a standard one that most everybody uses? I'd like to have 10 round magazines, but 5+ is fine.
I don't think most of you will be familiar with this scope so here is a link to more info. Hawke Optics | Hawke Endurance 30 SF 6-24x50 223/308 Marksman
I have one of their scopes with a similar reticle made to go out to 200 yards with a .22lr round and it works awesome!
Thanks!
