Exploring the idea of adding something light and small to the stable.

Could be talked into a different caliber as I've already got a couple 308. One carbon gas gun and one super heavy 18" 700.

Here's what I'm thinking.

.308
16" steel fluted
Defiance AnTI
McMillian Hunters Edge Forrest Camo

And the big question...

Who do I have build it?

6.5 PRC for anything up to Elk would be my choice. Great round, shoots flat, less recoil than a 300WM and good factory ammo choices as well as reloads.

I would love to see the numbers for 6.5PRC using Warner Tool Flatlines over some RL26.

my fav hunting rifle is my 308 trimmed to 18 and wears a supressor. pretty light with a HS precision stock but titanium action and fluted barrel would add a nice touch. Not sure who is local to you to build but i am always a fan of local gunsmiths.

If you already have a 6.5 PRC it will cover pretty much anything up to Elk size and if you keep it under 500-600yds the 6.5 will cover Elk. What is your specific purpose for the new rifle?
If you feel the 6.5 PRC is on the light side for your intended purpose/game and you have access to a barrel vise you could always have your smith spin up a 300WSM CF barrel.
Just need a little more info.

A 16" in .308 doesn't suck. Make it light and handy and you're GTG. Add a short suppressor and have at it.
