Hey guys,
first day with my new Kestrel, playing around.

Setting a target out to 1,100yds., Elevation is 10.3 Mil, so far so good, but Windage with 0 wind is 3.4 Mil - and that can´t be right!

I´m scrolling through my settings and have no idea where I´m making the fault.

Any idea?
:unsure:

Windage is a combination of Spin Drift, Coriolis, and Wind.

Yes, I know, have read a book from you AB guys.

But with zero wind, is it possible that a bullet drifts (has a windage) of 3.4 Mil?

Is that much possible?

:unsure:

Humm, setting spin drift to zero breaks windage down to 0.94.

And Strelok says 0.2 with spin drift, against 3.4 (or 0.94 w/o spin drift) from the Kestrel.

Wind = 0
Spin Drift = Off
Latitude = 0
DOF = 0

Try these settings.
Also check your bullet length in the profile, Zero Offset, and Sight Offset.

Look at Target Speed and direction. I noticed that, when new and upon Firmware updates, the target speed reset to 2 or 3 mph And not zero. I found it was necessary to check and reset the speed on all targets to zero.

Let me know how it works out for you...

@DocUSMCRetired:

I can´t set Latitude down, don´t know why.

Spin drift has a huuuuge impact.
Spin drift on = windage is 34.8 / spin drift off = windage is 0.98

In my opinion spin drift can not have such a huge impact.

@onetopgun:
Target Speed was on 2 mph, got it to 0, didn´t change much though.

There is a small "a" or an small Alpha after the windage direction.

For example:
W 0.93La

What is that?

Excuse me please, but where can I find the bullet length?
Got the bullet from the library, there is dia, BC, weight, but no length.

Ah, found it in the description, well, there is no "BL".

After the BD I have ZR, BH, ZH, ZO, RT, Eunit, Wunit, Cal DSF, View DSF, Delete gun.
That´s it, no BL.

That helps to determine your FW version. the BL was removed in an update. If you have the latest FW then I recommend doing a factory reset on yours and uploading new gun profiles using the app.

Yes sir, updated firmware today.
And I did upload my gun profile with my I-phone and the app.

Will do so as you recommend and report, thank you.

Hi again,
set it back to factory status and added then the one gun from my app, that I have in there right now.

Unfortunately the same result, and I´m pretty sure that it has something to do with the spin drift.
There must be a setting fault or something, which blasts it out of the roof as soon as I´m activating the spin drift.

Right now, caliber 6.5 CM, distance 1,000m, wind 1 is 0m/s, wind 2 is 2.0m/s.

Windage without spin drift:
0.8L / 11.1R

Windage with spin drift:
34.7 / 22.9L

Not only that the datas with spin drift are way to high in my opinion, but with zero wind the windage is even higher than with 2.0m/s wind.
:confused:

I GOT IT!
Man, something like that drives me nuts, but I got it!

You were right, it was the bullet length!
When you are on bullet diameter you can open a drop down menu where the bullet length appears.
The bullet length in there was waaaaay to low, about 0.45" instead of 1.36".

Measured a bullet, dropped in the data and have now a big change.

W 3.15L 8.80R

As a newbie to the game:
Are those side-shifting measurements from Left to the Right (zero wind L - 2m/s wind R) with upcoming windplausible?

Yes they are depending on the distance, bullet, equipment, cartridge and all the other specs....
