New lot of varget

Loaded up some 308 test loads with a new lot of varget. Shot them through the chrono today. New lot was 44.0g to get the same velocity as my old load of 44.9g. Both loads and lots were fired today through the same chrono and weather conditions, back to back.

Just thought I'd share my findings. Happy shooting.

dang, glad you backed it off. Sounds like a really hot lot

I started low and worked my way up to my previous charge wt of 44.9, which averaged 53 fps faster with the new lot. No pressure.

Original lot# was 4356 bottled 05/02/06

New lot# is 4612 bottled 06/17/08

I am experience very much the same thing. Old Velocity was 2700-2730 with 44.5gn ( depending on day and conditions.) New lot with 44.5 was 2760-2824 ( Different conditions) but shows pressure signs. Will report back to what charge I end up with. Hope to determine this on Wednesday.
