Happy New Year everyone,

New here to the forum and also new to the club that some call it Lego for the big boys. Just recently started shooting rifle and reading a lot of information about the AR platform. Looking forward for your guidance to further my knowledge and will try to help in the best way I can.

Thanks

I'm from Austin (hook em horns). Got my AR 3 months ago and been busy going to the outdoor range this past christmas holiday. I thought that a 500 round will take me a year to spend but I made a wrong assumption. It only takes me 1 1/2 months with going to the range sparingly. Currenly, in the process of trying to build a budget AR10 and will be needing opinions/suggestions on some parts that I have already pick.

Is there a specific room that I need to post for opinions/suggestion for a project or build?

Thanks

BOOMER!

Currently I have an AR15 a2 with carry handle. Tried to put a red dot and it was a little bit high, my chin is the one that is touching the butt stock. Also interested in trying to do long range shooting.

Here is the spot for info on gas guns bud, https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/forums/sniper-s-hide-semi-auto-rifles/

It's an Olympic arms lower with a bull barrel, on the heavier side. A friend suggested it to get feet wet on the AR platform and as budget entry.

Thank you for the warm welcome and pointing me to the room were I can post my ar10 build inquiry.

Sure thing not a problem practice, practice, practice that’ll make you a better shooter than any amount you spend on gear. If you don’t mind me asking, what is your budget for the AR-10

Currently, my budget is around $800 and planning to piecemeal the parts and hoping that I can finish the build within 6 - 12 months. I have done some research and reading on the parts but still contemplating on the barrel and bcg on which I have little to no experience on the part. Also which one will be the best bang for the buck that will be able to produce a non-competition rifle with a 1-2 inches MOA groupings. Here's the parts list that I currently came up.

Posted it in the semi-auto-rifles room and already getting good feedback. Also, I started checking the builds in the room and getting useful information and there's a lot of nice builds, which makes me more eager to finish my build. Most of the builds in that tread is out of my league but they are nice toys .

Yep my advice is to save and buy a part at a time until you get everything you need, fuck a budget gun buy once cry once, get what you want the first time. Research this forum as much as possible it’s almost impossible to make dumb decisions on weapons and gear if you are an active member of the hide.
