Hello, I kept getting redirected to this form by google searches related to my new rifle. I purchased a Tikka TX3 CTR in 6.5 CM and mounted a Steiner TX5Xi 3-15X50 with a Spur mount. I’ve also ordered my first suppressor, the wait is terrible. This is my first post, but I’ve been reading and learning a ton. My oldest is starting deer hunting and I’ve always been interested in precision shooting. I grew up hunting in ND with lots of open land and long shots mixed in. Thanks for all the advice I’ve read so far. I can usually find a good answer using the search feature. Anyone have a favorite factory ammo deer round for this Tikka rifle? My previous deer gun being passed down is a Sako model 75 25-06. This a 4 shot group with Winchester supreme ammo.

Welcome to the Hide!

For 6.5 ammo, I'd highly recommend the Barnes Vor-Tx. With more states requiring lead free hunting ammo and the devastating wound channel the Barnes bullets produce, you can count on terminal performance second to none. I like my kills going down within a hundred feet of where I shot them. Yep, their expensive but when you factor in only needing two shots a season to bag your deer, a box of twenty rounds is good for ten years. One shot to verify zero and one shot to put the meat in the freezer.
