My advice?

Read what interests you. Think about it. Ask <span style="font-style: italic">sensible</span> questions based on what you have read. Wear a thick skin. Shrinking violets don't last long here.
Be respectful. This is Lowlight's house. He is loved and adored here, play nice and you will be accepted.
Be positive in your outlook (you <span style="font-style: italic">may</span> just be off to a bad start there), but, once again, BE RESPECTFUL. You don't know who you are talking to, so tread warily if you have something contentious to say.
Otherwise, DIVE IN AND ENJOY!! you get out what you put in.

Oh, part of your problem may well be that you haven't filled in your profile. People aren't going to talk to you if they don't know who you are!

Not a shrinking violet, nor do I consider myself contentious, actually as with my ccw I will walk to the other side of the street.
Was just hoping this was not a site that if you did not have the latest $3000 longrangeimwizbangum, that you could not converse
