Hi Folks,

We opened up a new machine shop in September of 2022 and this is our second product called the Forward Operating Base. We are a group of active PRS shooters designing and manufacturing new concepts for the PRS community. Custom and contract machining services are available as well. Located in Northern Arizona.

Forward Operating Base
Designed as a semi-permanent MPA BA Comp chassis alteration to provide a more stable and functional platform for the PRS shooter. Simple chassis upgrade to get you the benefits of a wider and longer chassis. No need to replace the chassis you are comfortable with already.
  • 14.9" long and 3.9" wide (Matrix Pro is 3.75w x 14"long) not counting spigot.
  • Full length, low profile ARCA rail on bottom and tuned to closely match the spigot height and width.
  • Rigid fixture to chassis through the use of 2 steel precision dowel pins and 4 flush screws. Extremely solid.
  • Supports use of your existing MPA spigot. Really gets you the long length you want for rear tripod stages.
  • Multiple locations to grab on to as you use your support bag, creates a much better interface point vs attempting to grab thin side rails or weights.
  • Weighs 32oz (2lb) with spigot installed. With a comp contour barrel and heavy scope (Tangent Theta) my rifle comes in at 22lbs eliminating the need for any additional weight.
  • Compatible with MPA internal weights and most external weights.
  • Vinyl insulator strip for interface with the chassis.
  • Grab points on the top edges and recesses for easy one hand carry or movement. Every edge is super smooth radii, no sharp points anywhere.
  • Most ARCA attachments such as a CYKE-POD will require the use of a quick release lever.
  • Cerakote Extreme Series Black Out color is the default. Custom colors can be done for an additional charge. Also available in bare metal at a discount.
Introductory priced at $220 including shipping within USA. Comparable cost to buying just rails and weights, but much more functional. Please give it a try. The guys that have shot the prototypes won't go back to just rails and weights and were hounding me to get the production version complete. Personally, I like the length and width of the Matrix Pro, but do not like the heavy thumb hole rear stock. This concept simply started as a way to get the benefits of the width (extra stability) and additional length without having to sacrifice with the Matrix PRO rear stock.

The grab points on the side have the added benefit of helping you control recoil better, an unintended bonus we were pleasantly surprised with. We had to ramp up Cerakote in-house and that added a month delay getting this to market. In the end, this resulted in a cost savings passed on to you and the ability to easily offer custom colors on request. This is really designed for those of you that love your BA Comp and would enjoy breathing some new life into it.

All machining done in-house on Haas CNC machines. All materials are sourced from US suppliers. If you are a Veteran or Active Duty, message me for your discount code.

I was one of the original prototype testers for the FOB.

It’s pretty awesome. The lugs on the edges give your hand a place to clamp onto a bag, no matter what size bag you need to use for a particular stage or prop. I also like the way the rifle feels with the extra weight down low. It’s solid. Great mod for a great chassis.

I’m really looking forward to getting my production unit.

Couple of questions I have been asked.

Made from 6061-T6511 manifold grade aluminum. Not cheap import aluminum. Hardened and tempered. Adds rigidity to chassis.

Yes they are in stock. Currently the black cerakote units.

Custom colors are about a one week delay as we are currently paint on Fridays. I will add a link to my site for this, but we are using the E-Series Cerakote if you want to see available colors on the cerakote website.

The stock QD on the chassis remains accessible for a standard sling QD. The QD cup sits between the lugs so you still have access to engage the release.

Thanks for the questions.

Payments fixed on website.

ShopPay (Shopify payments) was turned on just over a week ago. While that is just another payment method, I found that customers we getting forced into registering for ShopPay to pay for any transaction, with the exception of Paypal.

I have shut this off. You can transact with credit card/paypal/venmo as a guest or logged in. Normal process.

Apologies to anyone who ejected from purchasing over this. All fixed now.

Can we get a pic of the bottom of this? Any chance the arca rail is RRS R-Lock compatible?
Thanks!

Here are a couple pics I have handy right now. This is a straight ARCA dovetail full length.

Thanks,
Kevin

Inventory refreshed, 8 in stock. Discount code mefirst 50% off still active for the 8 remaining units.

I have started work on a MLOK version to fit the MPA ESR, MDT and XLR chassis with MLOK slots on the bottom of the foreend. ESR tested version should be available for sale next week and will let you all know.

I need someone with a MDT and/or XLR chassis to test fit. Let me know if someone can assist.

Thank you,
Kevin McLeod

Great question. No plans as that is a personal choice I don't want to force on a user having a permanent stop on there. I know a lot of PRS guys use them and lots don't.

Having said that, it does support the use of the grey ops (especially the new short version) of their stop.

On the ESR and MDT chassis version coming soon, you will be able to just adjust the location of the FOB to clearance whatever stop you like. This is due to the longer forend and MLOK slots.
