I was considering picking up a cheapy Rem 700 ADL Varmint in .308 for a new project gun (can find one for about $550, which keeps me in my budget).

Some online vendors - and Remington customer service - listed the varmint 26" .308 bbl on that gun as having a 1:14 twist. This is different than the 1:12 twists that I understand the ADL varmint 308's used in the past. Can anyone confirm/verify the change to a slower twist rate?

This throws a wrench in my project plans... shooting 175gr seems like 1:14 is too slow to stabilize?

And Rem customer service just came back with a follow up email...

"Oops - our mistake. It's actually a 1:10, not 1:14"

That’s good they’re finally doing updated twists in the .308 Win. instead of that outdated 1:12 shit.
