Gunsmithing new project should i

Well i think i will start a new project i have a savage model 11 left hand 7mm-08 should i keep the 7mm-08 or go to a 308 i want a long range target/hunting rifle for 600 yards out i was thinking of a Mcgowen bull barrel and manners tactical stock i have not decided on barrel length i will probley have GAP do some of the work sents they are only fifty miles south of me so give me some sugestions please thanks

other than available factory loaded match grade ammo (to some this is a huge deal), the 7-08 will beat the 308 all day long. If you reload, I would stick with the 7-08, if you don't the .308 is a very capable caliber.
