New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
I just looked at buying more Berger 140 hybrids, they are $42/100 now for 2018, I might have to consider the Nosler 130's if they are the same BC and cheaper. I'd get nearly 3300 fps in my long throated 6.5 Saum.
I bought two boxes of the 130’s for my 6.5x47 and was not impressed. I normally shot the 140 RDF and have had excellent results with them. I have a .167 freebore and to start with the 130’s loaded to the lands was actually longer than the 140’s length to lands. I had to jump them .070 to get enough bullet in the case neck. Ran a ocw test with varget from 36 gr to 37.5 in .3 gr increments. Started getting pressure signs at 37.5 gr and 2800 fps. My 140 load is 37.3 gr varget at 2755 fps and no pressure signs. All 6 groups had 2 in 1 hole and a flyer, could have probably eliminated the flyer with seating depth adjustments but was worth further testing at the low velocity it maxed out at.
I would like to get a box or two of the 85 gr pills and see how they stack up my 223.
