Well it's not a bar code like you see on a box in the grocery store but....Remington has started placing a series of punch marks on the action under where the bolt handle rests. Has anyone else noticed this, and does anyone know what it is for?

it's a better type bar code. Remington has been doing it for some time now.

It's a 2D bar code. It can contain more information than the standard bar code. The military have been requiring these type of bar codes, aka UID, on more and more products. The UID can contain the mfg, cage code, part number, serial number, etc., all in one small bar code.
