So I picked up a Remington 700 SPS AAC-SD yesterday and was thinking about glass and a mount. I was looking at this scope but I have no idea where to even start for rings/base. This is my first rifle for "long distance," I have another rifle I use for hunting so this is going to be all precision. I have yet to make a shot over 200 yds so I'd like to get the most for my money and kinda on a budget with the ol' lady. If you have any suggestions on where to start or a better scope around the $300 price point I'm open to suggestions. I plan on getting a better scope further down the road but I need to build on that so I'd like to start small and make sure this is something I want to do.

Re: New rifle help on glass and mount?

I would suggest a mount called the game reaper, they sell it at midway USA. It is a one piece aluminum direct mount, u can get it with 20 or 30 Moa built in for distance shooting. It's made out of aluminum so it won't rust. They run about 50 dollars. U can get a tactical mount that is built a little heavier, if you google game reaper you should be able to find their web site, they also are known as dnz. For the price I think they are great. As far as a tactical scope in the 300 dolled range that's tough. Weaver makes a tactical scope called the Kaspa that has a lot for the money, my only issue would be eye relief, it doesn't have a lot so if u have a magnum it may not be your best choice, u can find the weaver on midway for about 239, it is a 3-12 and is 30 mm tube also has aluminated reticale. It's great for the money. The turrets are solid and they lock so you can keep your zero. Hope this helps.
