Just picked up my new Robinson Arms XCR-M (.308) a few days ago. Havn't had a chance to try it out yet (other than 5 quick rounds when I picked it up). I am planning on loading up some ammo for it tonight. When it comed to reloading for rifle calibers, I have only loaded for my Rem. 700 (.308).... can anyone tell me if I need to do anything different for a semi auto. I will post a picture of it under photos.

Re: New rifle

If you have a standard sizing die you may find the rounds will not chamber reliably. For semi-auto use I re-size with a small base die. Also, you need to be sure your primers are seated a few thou below the base to prevent slam firing.

Re: New rifle

The biggest difference between bolt and semi-auto loading is that you will have to full size the brass every time. You will also likely need to trim after sizing as well.

If you don't have a case gauge or a comparator (I recommend both), you need to get at least one of them in order to set your sizing die correctly and prevent over-working your brass.
