I was selling my NF and I almost decided to keep it, until I got a good offer and decided to sell it.

A few hours ago I jumped on a new S&B 5-25 PMII LP P4F with CCW MTC turrets. I have been reading and gathering info on these, but can't really find much on the MTC turrets other than the clicks are more tactile. It looks like they are much taller than the DT turrets. Does anyone have any pics of this scope on a rifle for reference?

I switched to this scope because of several reasons:

1) I wanted more mag to spot my own impacts and some F class comps.

2) FFP with a mil-based finer reticle. Better for F Class and easier for me to range and adjust shots.

So what do I have to expect with this new scope? What do I have to gain or lose vs the NF?

Re: New S&B on the way.... What to expect?

Compared to my NF my SB is heavier, has shorter distance between clicks and has clearer glass. Biggest thing I have noticed about the glass is it cuts through the mirage better.

Another thing you can expect is not to get much sleep until it gets to you. I know I'd be excited. Other than that rtr pretty much said it all.

Congratulations on your move up. I have four Nightforce scopes and since all of my rifles are now setup, I'm thinking of doing an upgrade on my favorite rifle.

Re: New S&B on the way.... What to expect?

Like I said in the other thread, I played around with several S&B 5-25x's yesterday. I ordered the same one and I'll be lucky to sleep a wink while I wait for it to arrive.

Both the MTC turrets and the standard ones have their advantages. The MTC's are sweet because you can quickly dial several mils just by sound and feel w/o taking your eyes of the target. The standard turrets are easier to dial .1 or .2 mils past a full mil, they're also a little shorter, but the difference wasn't huge.

The glass on the S&B was ridiculously awesome. I was looking at pigeons on a roof that were 600 yards away and I could easily see their eyes and individual feathers. The Hensoldt I played with was equally awesome. The other scopes (including NF) were nice, but weren't quite on the same level as S&B or Hensoldt.

Re: Schmidt and Bender MTC Turrets - S&B

The locking MTC is slightly taller than the standard double turn. Don't have one in front of me at the moment to measure but I'm thinking it's about a 4mm difference.

Re: Schmidt and Bender MTC Turrets - S&B

I made the move from S&B to nightforce, it was a mistake...going from NF - S&B is a wise move, MTC turrets are a function I miss more than I thought I would.

The NF is a good scope worthy of praise in its price point, S&B is in another class altogether....you get what you pay for....oh if you want to go back to NF after using the S&B let me know, I will swap you with not charge to yourself at all....[joking]

If you look at the illustrations they don't show the MTC, just the standard DT with the dimensions listed for both. I've held both and there is a difference.

The standard MTC knob is taller than the locking MTC and about 6-8mm taller than the standard DT.
