Want to get into PRS but really need help before spending money. I believe I want a barreled action (6.5CM) to go into a MDT chassis. Howa, Tikka, Bergara or something else? I hear Bergara is a 700 clone so that would be nice for aftermarket stuff but how accurate are they compared to the others? If you guys could lead me in the right direction that would be awesome. Thanks for the help everyone!

Newbie here as well. Love my Tikka T3 hunting rifles but just bought Bergara BMP in 308 and on my sight in trip to the range shot 2 3-shot cloverleafs at 100 w factory ammo.

Bergara has had some pretty serious problems with their bolts so be careful not to get one of those with a bolt issue. I’d get a Remington or Tikka barreled action and be done with it. IMO the Howa‘s were a good value when they had them for a couple of hundred bucks but not at the $600 ish they want for one now.

Another vote for Tikka. I own several and they all shoot very well out of the box, even with factory ammo. I have never heard anyone complain about a Tikka aside from not liking the synthetic stock- which is irrelevant to you if you're going the barreled action route.

I went down this road last year. I tried to get something serviceable to dip my toes in. I ended up spending more than I had to because I replaced everything anyway. Lots of custom action manufacturers came out with action packages that are well within reach of newer shooters. The Bighorn Origin comes to mind, mack bros EVO action, etc. Most will take a criterion prefit that can be had threaded and everything for $400.

Ruger Precision Rifles are a very nice starter rifle. They're accurate, just clunky and plenty of aftermarket support. Bergara's are a great rifle in this space too.

If I were to do it again, I'd probably pick up one of MPA's production package guns and be done with it. Custom action, great chassis, good trigger, and with the pro all the accessories you need.

I'd just get a Ruger precision rifle in 6 or 6.5 Creedmoor. Buy was good a scope as you can afford.
You can always move the scope another rifle. No offense but that rifle with a high quality optic will be way better than you accuracy wise shooting PRS.
