As most of you know the hogue over molded stocks are very flimsy have a lot of flex and use a pillar bedding system. I'm wanting to change out my stock to a more rigid platform. I primarily use it for hunting and target shooting from time to time. I've looked into the mdt lss system but the mags are expensive and I can't find very much info on it. I'd like to convert it over from and internal mag to detachable. The max I can spend on it is about $500. Any ideas?

IMHO, I'd check out the Bell and Carlson M40 stock. If you wanted to incorporate badger or surgeon (or any other) bottom metal with a detachable mag, you should be able to do all this for $530-550. I have been told that if you order from direct from B&C, they will cut the stock to your bottom metal specifications, but I have never used this service myself. Good luck with the purchase, let us know how it works out.

B&C won't inlet their stocks for Badger or Surgeon DBM's if you order it from the factory. I know someone said it in a YouTube video and it's been passed around since then but I know a couple members and myself have called B&C asking about it and the answer is always the same...."we don't do that." Your best bet is to send it to a smith to have it inletted for the footprint of which ever DBM system you get. When I got my B&C M40 stock done by GAP the stock was $250, the PTG DBM was $120, and the inletting was $75. Add in $40 shipping/insurance both ways and the grand total is $485. You could also got with something like the CDI DBM and have them inlet the stock for you but I think that's a little more money but a faster turn around.
