New to 338 Lapua Magnum

I am new to the 338 Lapua Magnum - ust curious i see most are using the 250 Gr & 300 Gr Bullets. What would the 180Grain up to 225 Grain be used for?

Could be worked up for a .338LM, but there are a bunch of other cartridges out there using .338 projectiles other than the .338LM.

.338 EDGE, .338 Whisper, .338 RUM, .338 Winchester, .338 WinMag etc.

I would think that some of these other cartridges are using the lighter projectiles.

Lapua make .338LM ammunition in 248,250,253 and 300 grain for the Lapua Mag, so I would consider them the expert on which weights work best. They also have a 231gr Naturalis hunting round but I don't think that is comparing apples to apples.
