Sup fellas, I.know the 6.5 CM is a VERY new round. I.just built an AR-10 in 6.5
I've heard great things about this round. What/ I expect from it??? All input is most welcome

It's not that "new" anymore. :) It's pretty well established now. Even Walmart carries it (soon to be eliminated from their stock for political reasons).

I have a bolt-action 6.5. But, the "advantages" of 6.5CM are:

  • Low recoil
  • Less affected by wind than other rounds, supposedly.
  • Can reach out to about 1300 yards, still supersonic
  • Less expensive than other calibers that reach out to that distance.
  • More readily available than some of the more "exotic" precision calibers.
I'm sure there are other "pros" to the 6.5CM. But, you might don your asbestos suit for the "haters." There are those who look down their noses at 6.5CM.... and will tease you about your "man bun." ;)

Enjoy your new rifle!

I wouldn't say that something designed and produced over 11 years ago is 'VERY' new.

Expect to train harder and hone your fundamentals with a large frame AR. Achieving the same amount of accuracy as a bolt action with any cartridge in that platform is more challenging.

Dry fire is your friend, also regardless of cartridge. Enjoy!

It’s an excellent caliber.

Now cue the (Insert everything not 6.5CM here) on how it’s dumb or it’s not as good as (insert...)

It will do 99.9% of anything asked of it.

Well, considering the 308, 30-06 and the likes of have been saying since WWII, id say a cartridge that's only been around since 2007 is pretty new. Lol
but yes, I've got a dude at work ( the one upper) who won't get off of how the 270 is so much better.lol whatever

Ask him what the highest BC bullet is that’ll work in his rifle then show him a chart comparing them at 1000 yards.

I reload , and was wondering what's the best weight for a bullet I should use.
140s to 147s usually.

The 270 is a great cartridge... but it doesn't really fit into a AR.

Not sure who makes a 1-9twist 270win, but this one is interesting...

Probably better in a WSM or maybe a weatherby mag...

certainly would be impressive in a 270 WSM.
