New varmint rifle was a success.

I took my new (new to me) 1995 model R700 varmint synthetic out for its first range day Monday and I could not be happier. I got the rifle set up properly with a Vortex PST gen2 and zeroed with Federal GM Match 168grn. Shot at distances between 300 and 1000 yards. 300-800 had hits on target without missing a shot. I used my dope sheet from my other R700 ADL and just tweaked it a little. We were lucky to have very minimal wind that day. Once at 1000, I ran the math on a ballistic calculator and had impact on a steel torso within 3 rounds. I’m very impressed with this rifle and I believe it’s one of the best $800 investments I’ve ever made.

This is my rifle. The 18” gun in the second photo is my dad’s GA Precision custom R700. The third pic is my first ever impact on a target at 1000. We had her on target by the third shot.

The r700 varmint synthetic rifles from that error were some of their best shooting rifles. I got mine new back then and it’s still shoots great. Great looking rifle I really like your camouflage pattern.
