Guys, I hate doing this but the time has come for me to temporarily suspend new jobs / builds. I need to get some of the back log out and it kills me knowing I'm behind. If we've already spoken and made arraignments for you to send your work, you're good. Once I get caught up I'll take new work again, sorry for the inconvenience.

Re: New Work

Roscoe I would rather a gunsmith tell me that then tell me they will get it done in 2-3 months and them never get close to that.

It just means you are a quality smith that lots of people want to use.

Re: New Work

Honestly, not a bad dilemma to be in.

Re: New Work

Good for you Sir!

Truely a sign of good business and integrity.

Maybe some other smiths should follow your excellent example of doing the right thing.

You are an asset to our community!

Respectfully,

Chet

Re: New Work

Glad I've got mine!

Seriously though, smart decision. It will keep your customers happy and you from getting burned out. Not enough craftsmen know when their plate is full, and get overwhelmed. No doubt when your book opens again you'll still be busy as you want to be.

I don't know why some people use smiths who don't respond to PMs or even return phone calls. Roscoe has taken the time to speak with me every single time I've called him. If he didn't answer, I shouldn't have set the phone down because he called me right back. He thanks me for calling even when I'm the one with questions.

Re: New Work

Nice to hear
I thought the motto in the industry was:
Promise them what they want
Charge more than they can afford
Promise them a delivery date
Let them sit in the dark..
Make them wait an eternity to get it...

Re: New Work

This just goes to show you that you're a victim of your own success. Lol... I'm glad that you had the professional integrity to come on here post this. As I told you on the phone today, I'll be willing to wait for a superb product. Thank you for taking my call and being understanding with my request.

Re: New Work

Absolutely a stand up maneuver. I would much rather hear that and wait to send than send and wait to hear, only never hearing and calling and calling, etc. It shows integrity and that you care about your customers!
