Hey gents in need of some advice on a rushed mistake. Recently picked up my first bolt gun Rem 700 sps in 308. Bought the Mark 4 base and Mark 4 30mm medium height rings after some research on here. Figured this was a good entry level set up to start working on my distance shooting. Went with the Nikon m-308 4-16x42 with the BDC but in my own stupidity didn't pay attention that it uses the 1inch rings instead of the 30mm that I bought. Badger ordnance makes ring reducers that will make my mistake not such a costly one. Any cons with going this route ie loss in accuracy, failure to maintain a consistent zero etc. Thank you for your advice.

I would highly suggest you look at the SWFA 3-15x42 which is FFP and mil/mil. This scope will serve you well for many years to come as long as you treat it properly. At the moment it's on my radar as possibly my next optic. You will not be disappointed with the quality.

I would get the proper sized rings.

And you might want to reconsider a BDC scope, as it is unlikely that the BDC will match YOUR load. And it also will not adjust to changes in altitude.

Agree with getting away from BDC reticle, but if that is what you have, develop a chart for your load(s).

Regarding ring bushings, I am using Badger rings / bushings on a hunting rig - no problem. The only issue would be how they fit in the Leupold ring as to width.

Appreciate the feedback just trying to get a feel on more qualified opinions than my own. The BDC is what I have to work with for now but feel its a decent platform to learn on.
