Different strokes for different folks. I have a 5.5-22x56 Nightforce scope on my 338 LM. I only use 15x to shoot out to about 1600 yards. So, for my the 22x is more than enough to make it to 2K. I don't particularly like to have high mag when I shoot, but that's just me. Good luck with your build. You may want to look for a thread of Remy 700 338LM under rifle section. May want to read that before committing your self to the build.
