Guys-I have a NP-R1 5.5-22 NXS...I'm Curious about how the ranging abilities work at different magnifications....I'm assuming that if at 22 power what ever you range would be twice the size at 11 power (Half of 22) right? what about the zero, would the cross hairs be the same at every magnifications?
Thanks for the help!

Re: NF NP-R1 Reticle Questions

IF the reticle subtension was correct at 22x, those values would double at 11x. Your 1 MOA elevation hash marks become 2 MOA hash marks. Your 2 MOA windage marks become 4 MOA marks. You should check your scope and mark your power dial for important spot(s) (1/2 value, etc.) if you are serious about about using the reticle at different powers. Actually, you should check it at 22x to see if it is correct.

With that said, "ranging" with your scope should not really be an issue. If anyone is going to use their reticle to range something, surely they would want to do it on max power. Moving targets are another story.

As far as the cross hairs staying constant throughout the power range, might want to check that as well because they probably won't.

Re: NF NP-R1 Reticle Questions

To figure out your subtensions at all powers, you can divide the power into the calibrated power setting. For example - 5.5/22=4moa, 8/22=2.75moa, 11/22=2moa, 16/22=1.375moa

On a NF, the center of the crosshairs is always the center no matter what the magnification. All of our reticles are on the centerline and we test to ensure there is no POI shift with power adjustment during the QC inspection phase.

As mentioned above as well, Marking the different power setting with a white-out pen or other marker is a great way to quickly find an alternate scale while shooting.

Re: NF NP-R1 Reticle Questions

The only problems is that unless you are at 5.5 or 22x what is labeled as let's say 11x is not exactly that magnification, which will throw off your calculations.
