Kinda getting tired of waiting in the Mk5 7-35 PR2 to become available. Actually haven't even seen the 5-25 available on their website yet. (I have to order direct)

Looking at a NF Nx8 4-32 mil-xt now....if they are available within a shorter time frame. (Same thing..have to order direct)

Can't find much on them. Read what I found. Eye box is a little tight. Parallax is a little finicky. Got it.

My usage will mostly be banging steel out to 1k or a little further. I'm not a PRS/NRL competitor. Simply don't have the time. Maybe smaller local stuff if I ever have a weekend off or something.

I like the little higher mag ranges because I do like shooting paper...and will shoot club matches and I feel like it may help a bit when conditions allow it to be used. Basically prone or bench steel plate racks at distance.

I am kinda drawn to those 2 scopes because my rifle isn't a beefcake. Forget what it weighs naked. 11 or 12 pounds I think. #13 Bartlein and Manners PRS stock..Putting a big heavy hunk of glass on top seems to make it feel top heavy. (Borrowed a scope and noticed that)

Right now I just have a Viper HST on top and I'm not a fan. I just had it handy and it's getting me by for now.

Any thoughts?

There are lots of reviews and thoughts on the NX8, they get mentioned almost weekly.
Most of the reviews are that they are fantastic but the more esteemed optic snobs don't rate them very highly for the reasons you've listed and more. It will be a drastic improvement over the Vortex HST though, that's for certain.

If you can't find another optic that ticks all the boxes and you are happy with the compromises in the design then get it.
If you aren't willing to compromise then you'll just have to wait.
The Burris XTR3 is probably worth considering for your intended usage.

I used one a few days ago. It was better than I was expecting given all the hate. Eye box was picky. I had no issue with the parallax. Glass was very good. Only a tiny bit of edge distortion, I had to concentrate to find it.

Thanx all!

For whatever reason I couldn't turn much up on the search. Will try again.

I can absolutely understand the tighter eye box being a bit of an issue for timed positional stages. The 50mm objective doesn't help that...and at the same time, shrinks FOV which can slow down target acquisition.

I want a solid piece of glass that'll do what it's supposed to...at the same time, for my uses, I probably don't need top end and all the bells and whistles.

I've always wanted to shoot long range...and now there is a range to do it...so I built the rifle.

Take the time to set it up properly NX8 4x32 MilXT will deliver. I've read finicky paralax bullshit, (zero issues) Mine will focus under 10 yards to infinity, doesn't seem finicky. I can get off ten shots in 2 minutes easily. And tight eye box at 32x....... for crying out loud its 32X you're not going to have the same field of view as you do at 16X, and edge distortion, 20X I can shoot 7 mils using the reticle all day long its fine I haven't noticed any debilitating edge distortion. Plus the MilC and MilXT reticles leave the others in the weeds.
